Turkman carpets originate from northeastern Iran and are made by the Turkish-speaking nomads and settled Turkman tribes. The designs are based on linear, repeating patterns of octagonal shapes called "Gül", which are different for each tribe. The dominant color palette is red; but all other color variations are also possible in these classic nomadic carpets.
