Although Tubipora musica is classified as a soft coral, it stands out because it develops a hard, organ pipe-like skeleton made of fused calcium carbonate tubes. This skeletal structure is what gives the coral its distinct appearance and supports the soft, fleshy polyps that emerge from each tube.
