Five Traditional Folksongs

Traditional folksongs imply stories, and stories imply images. Before the age of television and movies, folksongs were a common form of sharing stories, but the lyrics created images that were left to the imagination of the individual listener.Five Traditional Folksongs is a small collection of these stories. Each song, easy to sing and easy to play, was a favorite that I plinked out on my guitar, creating in my mind my own interpretation of the lyrics. (After all, does anybody really know what a “ Fol-de-rol-de Til-de-tol-de Seek-a-double Use-a-causa Roll-a-find-me” is?)The whimsical images that carry the stories of these folksongs were originally created for my first grandchild. They were drawn on an old, now obsolete computer using a mouse on a keypad. This was before the days of Apple Pencil or touch screen computers. Since I did not have the foresight (or know how) to preserve the files, the images for the book are scans of the printed copies that I gave my grandchildren.All of the songs in this book are in the public domain.
